MB&F LM101 EVO: A Compact Classic Motorcycle Designed for Everyday Driving

MB&F has enhanced this concept while retaining its essence, transforming its Legacy Machine, best suited for everyday wear, into a true everyday watch.

MB&F's Legacy Machine collection has always been the brand's most contradictory line. It pays homage to 19th-century watchmaking craftsmanship yet houses some of the most dramatic three-dimensional movements in contemporary watchmaking. The LM101, launched in 2014, is the most understated interpretation of this concept. Smaller, thinner, and with a simpler mechanism than other models in the collection, it simplifies the concept to its essence while retaining the collection's signature suspended balance wheel. Furthermore, it is the brand's first watch to feature an in-house movement. In this sense, it is significant. Over the years, the LM101 has continuously evolved in appearance, materials, and mechanical structure, for example, by adding a double hairspring. The next major development direction for the LM101 is to become the brand's most practical watch to date.

This is where the EVO upgrade comes in… To celebrate MB&F's 20th anniversary, the brand launched the LM101 EVO watch in 2025, specifically enhancing its durability for everyday wear. This makes it truly special. The EVO upgrade concept includes a series of design and technical improvements aimed at enhancing the robustness of MB&F watches, making them more suitable for daily wear. The upgrade features a redesigned waterproof case (with a screw-down crown), the exclusive FlexRing shock-resistant device, and an integrated rubber strap. In 2020, MB&F first applied the EVO upgrade to the highly complex LM Perpetual watch, a groundbreaking perpetual calendar timepiece developed in collaboration with watchmaking genius Stephen McDonnell. Subsequently, the EVO upgrade was applied to the LM Split Escapement watch in 2022, and one of MB&F's most ambitious and structurally complex chronographs—the Legacy Sequential EVO watch. Now, it's time for the brand's compact Legacy Machine to evolve…

The MB&F LM101 EVO retains the same case size—40mm in diameter and 16.5mm thick—but the wearing experience is dramatically different. The titanium case is lighter and more comfortable on the wrist, especially when paired with the integrated rubber strap. Despite the large sapphire crystal designed to accommodate the massive balance wheel, the watch remains secure and comfortable to wear. The angled lugs, even with a 49mm lug spacing, help maintain perfect balance on the wrist.

The EVO's upgrades aren't just cosmetic. 80-meter water resistance, a screw-down crown, and the brand's exclusive FlexRing shock-absorbing system all contribute to the watch's performance in real-world use. This is the first LM101 watch that eliminates the wearer's concerns. With a little practice, you'll find it worry-free, which is a significant improvement in itself. The ability to easily wear and fully enjoy the watch is undoubtedly a major advantage.
